Customer Reviews

I have tested out the following Tablets running Android over the last 3 months:
Xoom (I own this one), Galaxy Tab 10.1 (returned this one), Asus Transformer (returned), HTC Flyer (returned after almost keeping), Toshiba Thrive (tested in store), HTC Jetstream (test for over an hour in store), and Sony S (sitting next to me on table ready to be shipped back).
Of all those listed above, prior to receiving my Lenovo which I am writing this review on right now using Logitech Android BT keyboard, I still believe that non of this could touch the Xoom in terms of overall experience and build quality. But, Moto to me is dead. They are dead to me. No 4g after promising for MONTHS we would have it, SD card activated after 8 months of waiting, and a marketing dept that is deceptive and doesn't care about the overall consumer. It shows in their phones, with my Droid 3 being a total disaster, and therefore, will never buy another device from them EVER.
Along comes the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet, and I have found the device that will let me leave my Xoom forever, to sell it to someone else on ebay! Why?
I was close to keeping and recommending the Sony S, but I just cannot get over the plastic feel of it, and the fact they are really catering to the video gaming movie watching consumer. If that is you, the Sony is would be your machine. But if you are like me, on the road a lot, and in need of a sturdy business centrix tablet, than this is going to be for you.
Lenovo has already sent over 2 OTA upgrades, but neither of them were for 3.2. Therefore, instead of being able to access Android Market for movies, you will have to use mSpot, which comes with this device. It's as capable in terms of movie rentals as Marketplace, but I would prefer to have the option available to me.
I also have not heard about it being upgraded to 3.2 as of yet, which made my Xoom snappier, but again, Lenovo I am using is as good as my Xoom after the upgrade, so it isnot an issue.
What makes this stand out is the Stylus Pen, but I will get to that in a minute. The custom nature of this Lenovo with the favorites wheel accessed on the lower right hand of the screen and the home page 5 apps visual right in front of you are excellent. Makes accessing your favorite apps easier and less cluttered on your screens.
The ports are also HUGE. Meaning, full SD card, Full USB, full sized HDMI port, and on portrait mode, hard keys that seem more gimicky but really come in handy.
The screen seems brighter to me than my Xoom, seems less laggy (but still has a little lag), and looks great when watching movies. What I DON'T like is the one speaker. Not loud, and although most people will connect to a headset for watching movies, I liked speakers to listen to quick video reviews, etc. The Xoom was not that great, but seemed louder despite the speakers being located on the back of the device.
This device weighs about the same as the Xoom, almost no difference, but looks heavier when you set them next to each other. I love ht rubberized feel on the back, but also liked the metal feeling of the Xoom ,so it's a wash.
But what makes this different is the stylus that came with my tablet. What stinks is that there is really only one app for this but I read that Evernote and others are developng for it, so that's going to be great. The handwriting recognition is BEST I HAVE TESTED. Better than HTC Flyer and Jetstream by far.
I also downloaded picsay pro and you can mark up photos easily, which is something I needed for doing claims in the field. It takes some getting used to and the palm rejection is still very good. But again, the recognition is key, and it does a great job of that. The potential here is enormous. Cannot wait to see what else they bring to the tablet.
Lenovo own store is ok..nothing great but a cool added feature. The file transfer is easy and seemless.
I would have given it 5 stars but for what I said above AND the fact there is no accessories avaialbe for it. Therefore, charging it takes 4-6 hours when it's powered off and more if you are working on it plugged in. The Desktop charger dck supposedly will charge it fully in 2 hours.
I am getting 8 hours plus at brightness 50% and wifi on often. That is sabout as good as my Xoom.
Excellent tablet for business consumer. IF you are on the fence, get off it and go for this. I have tried them all, and right now, this is the best experience for business and students you will find for Honeycomb tablet.

At the moment certain stores sell the 32GB model for under $520 so I picked one up recently and am blown away. The new Thinkpad Tablet is fantastic! It runs Honeycomb extremely well and the stylus input is perfect. I'm just waiting for more apps to make use of the pressure sensitivity and inking. However, even right now there are some good office/pdf apps that handle Microsoft Office formats for reading and editing which is exactly what I wanted to take notes in class.
